 I used to want to write a story about this old lady - a widow, children flew out of the nest a long time ago and she moves to this strange city she doesn't know anyone there, it's small and unattractive and she doesn't know why she wants to live there but she moves there anyway. And then one they she bumps into you. You hit her with your car. It's not a serious injury, but you take her to the hospital. And she recognises you right away. But you don't recongnise her. You've forgotten her and what happened btw you. You're struggling with your marriage and she helps you out. How cheesy! And then one day he notices something typical of her and says: "You remind me of a friend I had and lost, but I don't say anything. Or perhaps I do. I say something like: "So sorry for your loss."
